Our Services

At The Body Image Treatment Clinic, we offer a variety of different psychological and dietetic services specialising in the treatment of conditions that affect both body and mind. Conditions like: body image issues, pre and post cosmetic surgery support, low self-esteem, identity issues and eating disorders. We are here to help you, whether you are self-referring or being referred to us by a health professional.

You will begin with an initial assessment, either face-to-face at our London clinic or online, with one of our therapists or dietitians depending on your preference. We can also arrange a complimentary 15 min phone call with one of our team in advance of an assessment if you had any questions you wanted to ask beforehand.

During the assessment process your individual clinician will help create a bespoke program for you to ensure the most effective treatment based on your needs and preferences. If you then proceed with treatment, sessions will usually be every week with a formal review after 4-6 sessions. This is to check and refine the effectiveness of the interventions and keep a focus on meeting your needs. Our team have a vast experience using evidence based and evidence informed psychological treatments including, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, CFT to name but a few. With some conditions it may be of value to have a dietitian involved alongside the therapy work and, in this case, we would include this in the recommended treatment.

Individual psychotherapy for body image and eating disorder treatment and services

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy is delivered by either a Registered Psychologist or Psychotherapist. Within the initial Assessment, we will develop an understanding of an individual’s goals for therapy as well as what has created and maintained their issues. The final part of the assessment is to recommend treatment approaches for the individual to consider.

After the assessment, an initial block of 4-6 therapy sessions will be agreed upon with specific shared goals. Usually between 10 to 25 treatment sessions are required to treat most conditions. However, with increased complexity of presentations, sometimes more sessions may be required.

We offer Individual Psychotherapy through face to face or Videocall sessions for a wide range of conditions including:

  • Body Image Distress & Disturbance
  • Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorders)
  • Gender and Identity
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Intimacy Issues
  • Self Criticism & Shame
